Welcome to CIMC´99

ABOUT THE CONGRESS

The purpose of a International Congress of Critical Care Medicine, is updating concepts, technologies and the recent advances in the critically ill patient's control.

When being a virtual congress, the first thing that gets us the attention, is the image that a traditional congress, where the congress members, presenters and members of different committees go walking for the bordering of the rooms of communications, exhibitors talking on mobile the phone, carrying suitcases and portfolios in the rooms of commercial exhibition, stewardesses, waiters for corridors, agents of security, etc.

The initial idea of this congress was born November 24 1.998 in the breast of a thematic channel of Intensive Care Medicine, in UNINet Network and Telematic Services, after conversation between two intensivists and a medical pathologist and operator of IRC (Internet Relay Chat).

Once resolved that the organization, address, scientific and technical pursuit, would be carried out at least in 85% through the electronic mail. We can end up saying that until the current moment everything has been carried out in 100% via Web and E-mail, what constitutes an entire organizational landmark.

THE CONGRESS

In the present time, is more difficult to go to the meetings, congresses and symposia organized for the world. The costs of Organization, of such events have been shot vastly and therefore they rebound directly in the inscription quotas, what sometimes makes impossible the participation of that real potential congress member, interested in the permanent bring up to date of the diagnosis, control and the critically ill patient's treatment.

To everything it must add it the derived expenses of the trip, services innkeepers, the participant congress members maintenance, etc. and that it usually rebounds from all over the world in many occasions on the pharmaceutical industry, like more and more habitual support of the continuous formation of the doctors and nurses.

To bring near to an entire potential world of congress members, it is one of the most prospective challenges when organizing a congress. If to everything it, we make it that it can visit one another and how not, to participate comfortably from our work place as well as of the own home, it is a fact of which very few precedents exist.

TECHNOLOGICAL STRATEGIES

The realization of this First Virtual International Congress of Critical Medicine will suppose an entire primary experience as for the use of strategies of technological and computer type, breaking linguistic barriers (three official languages) and bringing near different medical specialists from all over the world, with an only goal: the critically ill patient's care.

From the technological point of view, they have 10 servers mirror of the main web (http://www.uninet.edu/cimc99) located in UNINet Network (University Net of Telematic Services). it is in preparation the setting in new march of 2 “mirrors.” These servers they are located in different points of the world, allow a very high flow of visits. Automatically from 3 to 6 hours updating the pages web in the different servers.

One server (under construction), goes connected directly via satellite, what will facilitate a very quick connection with the United States of America and other countries.

In turn it will implant technical of virtual visit through worlds VRML, what supposes to carry out a wide computer technological unfolding in a medical congress.

The communications will place in the pages web of the congress during the time of exhibition of the congress and during at least 5 years, what supposes a virtual database within reach of the visitors.

These communications will discuss through text-conference in real time being based on a program client IRC (Internet Relay Chat) and the electronic mail (E-mail). All the discussions will be recorded in log files, combined to the communications, so that they are visionadas or read to posteriori, what can make attractiveness the congress.
