We have to look far back in the past, at least, so it seems, to find the date of the first diagnosis through the internet. However, virtual communications in "real time" over distance amongst hospitals and universities, as well as fast transmission of files and datas have obviously become more and more common. Consequently, rhat  "almost instant" spread of information enables us to update records of treatments and diagnosis methods. 

 Thanks to the powerful communication tools now available through the computer, we intend to take up the challenge of organizing the first Virtual Congress of Critical Medicine.
The only difference between the conferences to be presented through that congress and those of a traditional event of the kind is that you will be able to view it, as well as to interact with the people online, by the use of your computer. Besides, all communications  will be posted in web-pages and discussion scripts  accessible to all, thanks to the associated e-mailing lists.

 We believe that virtual congresses present obvious practical advantages in many aspects: No limits of time or participants and the opportunity for a number of specialists abroad to meet and share their experiences, as well as lower costs, are worth mentioning. 

 For all the above-mentioned , we, a group of specialists and long-time users of the internet have decided to organize the first International Congress of Critial Medicine. We proudly want to invite you, health profesionals to take an active part in it, by publishing original scientific works, wether they are linked with some general medical aspect, or specific topics. 

 Of course, that event will also be open to a larger audience. That is, people who simply have an interest in medical issues and want to either express their opinions and ideas or simply attend, as listeners. 

 Again, please take note that the content of all communications and conferences will be ulteriorly published , in the form of web-pages or cd's. Besides, prizes will be rewarded for the best speeches, as evaluated by a committee of scientists. At this point, we want to assure you that the works to be published will be of same value as those presented in any traditional congress.

 We sincerely hope for your participation in the first International Virtual Congress of Critical Medicine.
