PHYSIONEAL FORMULATION
25 mmol/L bicarb + 15 mmol/L lactate
Balanced formulation:
- A buffer concentration above the physiologic level is required to correct uremic acidosis.
- 25 mM is the physiologic bic level, found in blood.
- Supplemented by 15 mM of L-Lactate to help maintain acid-base balance.
- pCO2 is at the physiologic level.
- Safe (clinical impact of higher than physiologic bicarb, pCO2 unknown)
